from March...

Nanna has been working too hard in our
basement, especially on her spring break. As evidence, Ceciliana just finished breakfast, then toddled straight to the basement
door and pounded on it. "NANANANANANA!" Then she tugged on me angrily, "NANANANANANA!" as though I had Nanna locked
in the basement and just wouldn't let her come out.

The good news is, mom is super efficient, and the basement bathroom is nearing completion!

I should be folding laundry...

but I'm starting a blog. Well, formalizing a blog. We've had a family website for a few years that has linked our immediate family to my brothers across the miles. My dad started printing the stories we shared- and it turned out to be pretty entertaining reading for those who like old episodes of the Little Rascals, especially our kids. Inspired by a few friends' blogs, and the love of life that they share, I've decided to share the love. So here we are! I hope this is archived somehow, because the baby books are going to suffer :)

Peacefield, by the way, was the rural home of John and Abigail Adams in their waning years. It was the beautiful escape from politics and foreign service that they dreamed of... the house they doubled in size to accommodate returning children and grandchildren. When we were in search of a home throughout 2009, we prayed for our "Peacefield". What we found was actually dubbed "The STINKY HOUSE" by the children. Yes, disgusting to breathe in, the front step cracked in half, floors caving in, windows broken, and home to a family of raccoons... it was our dream house! After 6 months of hard labor, it is officially our Peacefield and we are enjoying our rest; even as we remember Saint Augustine's words, "Our hearts are restless, until they rest in YOU, Lord."

Earning the title of Terrorista: Silly-Anna

She climbs onto EVERYTHING... only occasionally an 8 ft ladder, most frequently the chair to the computer. "She's on Itunes!" Kolbe shouted yesterday. She does
usually just want a little music. She fingers the computer around the mousepad and bobbles her head. Nora Jones and Matt
Maher are current favorites.
She's also up at the breakfast nook getting into everyone's food, school pages or coloring books, resulting in many a broken
crayon and spilled bowl of cereal. It has increased the speed with which each kid eats breakfast. Katie HAS to sit still and eat her
cereal or it just disappears. No more pirouettes in the middle of her cheerios.
Ceciliana also figured out how to climb the ladder to the slide pretty quickly last week. She went down a few times on her own,
but then must have had a bad run. Now she climbs up, sits and the top and screams. Then starts to slide a tiny bit, shrieks and
scoots her butt back up. Scream! Squawk! Anything to get an assistant at the bottom of the slide! When she gets to the
bottom, she runs around to climb right back up :) Short memory, I guess.

Special K is growing so EXPRESSIVE!!

He's trying out new phrases almost every time he opens his mouth. I should record more of them. This morning he was
asking
for some mango, and Katie told him to stop whining when he asked. So he got his voice under control. "I'm not whining.
I'm
not whining, HELL-O!" He got the mango.

His birthday was very big around here, about 3 days of festivities. We didn't want to celebrate too much without Kolbe on
Wednesday, so we went to the toy store and let him pick one toy. I was trying to find a set of blocks or other building
materials
(therapy toys:) but he had his heart set on a simple truck. I felt a little guilty letting him settle on a $3 toy... so I asked him
about a few truck sets, a remote control truck... then realized how ridiculous I was being. The kid wants a little yellow front
scooping truck- not a 100 piece set or battery operated anything... and he doesn't care how much anything costs! So he
proudly
took it up to the check out. HIS TRUCK!!

Thursday Kolbe was off for the Ascension, so we did the big Children's Museum outing, complete with lunch delivered by Daddy.
He handled all of the transitions from one place to another really well, "Time to leave the fire truck and let someone else
drive!"
No fuss, just ready for the next adventure. (unlike some of his older siblings that day!) He is growing right into his 3 year old
shoes. We are very proud of him :)

Sadly, we learned on Wed. that Father Buhman will be reassigned outside of Cathedral. Kolbe heard the rumor at school, but
didn't have the heart to tell Keph on his birthday. "Keph LOVES Father Buhman!" then Kolbe broke into tears. "And he gives
the best homilies!" So I explained how we have to share our priests, be grateful for them when they are here, and the bishop
decides when it is time for them to move on... usually every 2 years. "Remember how sad we were to say goodbye to Father
Gilde? but he got to meet new people, and then we got Father Buhman!" "Well," Kolbe says through tears, "How long has
Father Tucker been here?"
hmmm. got me there.
